Introduction Measles, mumps, and rubella incidence decreased drastically following vaccination programs’ implementation. However, measles mumps’ resurgence was recently reported, outbreaks still occur, challenges remain to control these diseases.Areas covered This qualitative narrative review provides an objective appraisal of the literature regarding current in controlling measles, infections, interventions address them.Expert opinion While vaccines against (including trivalent vaccines) are widely used effective, diseases mainly related insufficient immunization coverage changing needs owing new global environment (e.g. traveling, migration, population density). By understanding disease transmission peculiarities by setting, initiatives needed optimize policies increase coverage, which further negatively impacted COVID-19 pandemic. Also, awareness potential severity infections role should increase. Reminder systems, disadvantaged, high-risk difficult-to-reach populations, accessibility vaccination, healthcare infrastructure, services management improve. Outbreak preparedness be strengthened, including implementation high-quality surveillance systems monitor epidemiology. main focus on public health slightly more benefits could come from evolution vaccines.
